Stockholm-based instant payments provider Brite Payments is tackling the resource constraints and administrative burdens faced by charities and non-profits with its new payments and data solutions service. The service, which is built on open banking and Account Information Services (AIS), is helping organisations streamline operations, enhance transparency, and ensure compliance, freeing up more time and resources for their core missions.
Nordic organisations, including The Swedish Heart Lung Foundation (Hjärt-Lungfonden), Suicide Zero, and The Swedish Sea Rescue Society (Sjöräddningssällskapet), are already using the solutions. The service is also being leveraged by nonprofit-focused payment operators like Repejo and fundraising platforms such as Octany.
Solving the data entry friction point
A key challenge for fundraising platforms, particularly when signing up recurring donors, is the administrative friction of manual data entry.
“Prior to implementing Data Solutions, donors had to manually enter bank account details, which most people don’t know by heart. This can be the difference between receiving a donation or not at all,” said Elise Hammarström, co-founder and chief executive officer of Octany.
By using Brite’s open banking solution, platforms like Octany can automatically retrieve the donor’s bank account information to set up a direct debit, requiring authentication via the user’s standard bank identification method . This provides secure, instant account verification for robust donor validation.
The impact of removing this friction has been immediate. “From this, we’ve already seen the success rate for direct debit signups improve by 24 per cent in the first month,” Hammarström added.
Reducing administrative burden
For charities, the automation of these financial processes has a direct impact on operational efficiency, allowing them to focus on their mission rather than on administrative tasks.
The Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS), a prominent charity focused on maritime search and rescue, highlighted the advantages of the new system. “It’s easier than ever for supporters to donate,” explained Gunnar Lindgren, customer relationship analyst at SSRS. “We’ve significantly reduced administrative burden and friction in the donation process. This confidence allows us to focus more on attracting and retaining frequent supporters.”
Beyond simplifying data collection, the open banking-powered tools also provide instant transaction insights, allowing for precise tracking of donations and funds.
Converting one-time donations to recurring support

Brite Payments noted that the combination of instant payments and integrated data insights allows charities to take their fundraising a step further. The technology enables organisations to capitalise on the momentum of a successful one-time donation and “seamlessly offer a recurring option”.
This capability is critical for securing long-term, predictable funding and strengthening supporter relationships.
“Brite is committed to equipping charities, nonprofits, and businesses across all verticals with powerful tools to simplify financial processes and enhance transparency,” said George Parks Davie, VP of products at Brite Payments. “This allows them to focus more time on their missions and amplify their message, all the while building vital donor trust.”
Brite Payments is a second-generation fintech that leverages open banking to process account-to-account (A2A) payments in real time. The company is connected to more than 3,800 banks within the EU and is currently available in 27 European markets.
