dLocal, the cross-border payment platform focused on emerging markets, has entered into a strategic partnership with DHL Express Brazil to automate Pix payments for its local operations.
The collaboration aims to replace manual payment checks with real-time confirmation. This integration is designed to address a critical bottleneck in the logistics sector: the time lag between payment and the release of goods.
Removing the manual bottleneck
While Pix has established itself as Brazil’s primary domestic payment rail with over 166 million users, many operational environments still rely on legacy verification processes. In the logistics industry, where speed is paramount, manual bank reconciliation and payment receipt requests can delay shipments significantly.
By partnering with dLocal, DHL Express Brazil has embedded Pix directly into its checkout process with automated reconciliation within its CRM system. This allows operations teams to confirm payments and release parcels in minutes rather than hours, reducing friction between finance and logistics teams and lowering the risk of returns caused by processing delays.

Immediate impact
The integration has reportedly yielded rapid results. Since implementing the automated system, DHL Express Brazil has seen its online payment rate increase by 31 per cent, while Pix payment volume has surged by 400 per cent.

By automating payment confirmation and embedding it directly into DHL Express Brazil’s operational flows, we’re helping align payments with the operational realities of express delivery.”
The companies indicated that this project lays the groundwork for broader payment coverage in the future, including potential optimizations for Boleto payments.
