MariBank Launches S$1 Physical Gold Investment Fund for Singapore

MariBank, the digital bank subsidiary of Sea Limited, has launched Mari Invest Gold, a new offering that allows customers to invest in physical gold with a minimum entry point of just S$1.

The move makes MariBank the first digital bank in Singapore to offer such a low barrier to entry for the LionGlobal Singapore Physical Gold Fund. The product is designed to democratise access to gold, an asset class traditionally viewed as a safe haven during economic uncertainty.

The fund invests in physical gold bars with at least 99.5 per cent purity, which are securely stored in vaults within Singapore. Standard Chartered Bank Singapore serves as the custodian for these holdings.

The investment tracks the performance of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) Gold Price AM, a widely recognised benchmark for daily gold prices. By offering this through a new unit class exclusive to its customers, MariBank aims to strip away the complexities often associated with commodities trading.

Mari Invest Gold joins an expanding suite of wealth management products from the digital bank. Its predecessor, Mari Invest SavePlus, which invests in MAS bills and high-quality bond funds, has grown to S$1.135billion in assets under management as of 30 November 2025.

Another product, Mari Invest Income, caters to users seeking steady monthly payouts and has reportedly seen its assets under administration grow tenfold since its launch in February 2025. According to the bank, approximately 30 per cent of its customer base has now adopted at least one investment product.

Natalia Goh, chief executive officer of MariBank, commented on the strategy: “Our latest partnership with Lion Global Investors to launch Mari Invest Gold extends the timeless appeal of gold to a new generation of digital investors. Together with Mari Invest SavePlus and Mari Invest Income, they form a comprehensive suite of investment products designed for everyone—from first timers to experienced investors.”

Teo Joo Wah, chief executive officer of Lion Global Investors, added that the partnership reflects a commitment to democratising access to alternative assets, contributing to Singapore’s status as a leading financial and gold hub.
